January Essentials 2018

So it’s finally 2018!

Congratulations sis! You survived 2017, including the good and the bad that came along with it! It’s now the time when people set goals and talk of plans for the new year. While I have a list of goals I’ll be working to achieve, I decided this year to really just take it day by day. I think we overwhelm ourselves when we try to conquer all of our yearly goals in the first couple months. In an effort to stay committed, I am trying to give myself a realistic pace to work at when it comes to crossing off goals on my list.

Because January is the first month of the year, I figured I’d show you my essentials for this month. These are items that coincide with my goals for the year. I will be using them in heavy rotation.

I feel like this item is the most important, and hopefully one that will be used the most. I previously used a Canon Rebel T5. I still love that camera but I wanted to switch to a camera that would be easier to travel with and a little less bulky. For Christmas I was gifted the beautiful Sony Alpha 5100. This camera is small but powerful. This year I’ll be rededicating myself to my blog so this item is crucial this month.

Shag Fur Coat:

As most of my readers already know, I reside in the city of Detroit. The winters are brutal. Inches upon inches of snow, heavy winds that blow in from the Detroit River, and dirty slush on the pavement can make being a fashion-savvy city girl much more difficult. I purchased this little number on Cyber Monday at H&M for only $37! My Shag fur coat keeps me warm, yet chic.

There was a little holiday that I celebrated in December. I’m not sure if you heard of it, but it was called The Bath and Body Works 3-Wick Candle Sale! I stocked up! I have always loved the way these candles smell, but in 2017 I learned just how pivotal candles were in restoring my emotional and mental equilibrium. A 3-wick candle and some alternative R&B kept me sane, and is such an inexpensive method of therapy. Champagne & Glitter is the scent pictured.

Being intentional about what your days will look like seems like an easy way to make sure you are meeting goals you have set for yourself. With this ideology in mind, I purchased a Happy Planner to use in 2018. The Happy Planner caught my attention because of its detailed customization options. Whatever your lifestyle focus is, you can get accessories to really cater to that.

Here’s to an amazing start to 2018! (insert champagne toast emoji) I’d love to hear some of your essentials for this month!

I have the same feelings about the Nikon I purchased last year 🙁 I’m hoping to find something lightweight, easy to use, but still have the great picture quality. I’m looking forward to reading more from you this year.

I will definitely let you know how the Sony 5100 works out! Sounds like we were in search of the same product! & Thank you. I will be working to produce more content this year for sure.

Omg! Candles are definitely an essential. They get your mind right, relaxes you and sets the mood! A new camera is for sure on my list! I need to start the year off with bomb pics
